Midnight Margaritas...

Welcome to the Practical Magic Blog Party 2010!!!!!!

Practical Magic Blog Party

The Midnight Margarita scene is definitely my favorite scene in the movie!  I bet I'm not alone!  Margaritas...  not-so-much my favorite mixed drink.  Tequila and I parted ways many years ago.  It was a love/hate relationship.  Occasionally our paths meet again, we do some catching up, wax nostalgic... I romanticize about being young and free in my 1987 Toyota Tercel hatchback and any number of oh-so-fine but malleable boyfriends that I would eventually tire of and toss aside out of boredom... We become instant friends again, like no time has passed at all.  We laugh, we sing, we dance.... but it always ends the same.  Painfully.  And when I wake the next morning (or afternoon), my head feels as though it is in a vice grip, and someone is using a Makita 18V Lithium-Ion Cordless Hammer Driver Drill on my skull.  Buh-bye Tequila, don't come around here no more.

This dark-colored margarita is perfect for
adult Halloween parties. Rum, (no Ta-kill-ya)
Blue Curacao, grenadine and a homemade
Lime Mix combine for a delicious drink.  If you have
made enemies with tequila in the past, this is the
margarita for you!

MIDNIGHT MARGARITAS
Ingredients for each serving:
2 ounces dark Rum
1 ounce Blue Curacao
1/2 ounce Grenadine
4 ounces Lime Mix (see below)

Lime Mix:
Blend together 1 cup lime juice and 1 cup sugar until sugar is dissolved.  Keep refrigerated until use.

Method:
Fill a shaker with ice cubes, add all the ingredients and shake until well blended.  Strain into a margarita glass filled with fresh crushed ice.

Notes:
You must use the exact ratios to result in this deliciously dark margarita that is perfect for any celebration, but particularly perfect for a MIDNIGHT MARGARITA PARTY!

MIDNIGHT MARGARITAS
(of the Strawberry and Diet Variety)

5-6 large frozen strawberries
1 cup cold water
1 individual packet of Crystal Light Lemon/Lime Drink Mix
2 heaping teaspoons of Splenda
2 ounces of Jimmy's favorite Tequila - El Diablo
Step 1 - Blend all ingredients until thick and smooth.
Step 2 - Salt the rim of a glass and pour.
Step 3 - DRINK!

Makes one HUGE serving or two regular servings.  Enjoy.....

 Click HERE for the video!

Eye of newt, toe of frog, wing of bat, tongue of dog.
Adder’s fork and blind worm’s sting…
Barbados lime is just the thing.
Fragias salt, like a sailors stubble…
Flip the switch, and let the cauldron bubble!

Peace, love, and happiness,
Earth Mother

Chris, if the margaritas taste as good as they look and sound, maybe I will have to try one!

I've fallen a little behind in blog reading the past couple of weeks, so am catching up. We're not campers, but we are avid fans of candles and it did seem peaceful and romantic in the case. But the Old Hippie have a point in wondering how much toothpaste is needed :-)

Woohoo! Bring on the Margaritas, and hold on to your husbands! Loved your post! And the taphophile post too... I'm going on a Melbourne Midnight Cemetery tour next week! Enjoy the rest of the ride!

Hello, I'm a fellow Practical Magic Blog Party person, and I just dropped by to see how yours looked. I also like this scene but I have to say my absolute favorite is the very end when all of the Owens women jump off the roof of their house. Unfortunately I couldn't find that scene on YouTube so I went with something else but I just thought I would share my favorite with you lol... Lovely blog btw!

Sure thing that the midnight margaritas scene is one of my favorite scenes from the movie, too. I think though that my favorite scene is the last one though -- can't beat a happy ending! :)

I totally feel your pain ~ I too have parted ways with Mr. Cuervo. The buzz kill was about 25 years ago in NYC. After a lovely afternoon in Rockefeller Center throwing back shots ~ I woke the next morning to a ring on my finger. which wouldn't have been so bad if the ring that used to be on that finger wasn't now stuck on a different finger thus cutting off all circulation to my arm for over 12 hours. Needless to say, The Fire Dept. got involved and all eventually was well again. Every now and then I do like a good Margh. and yours sound awesome ~ Thanks

Now all I need, is a way to transform my fav... Manhattan, straight up, with extra cherry juice... Into a Midnight Manhattan! ,-)

But hey, the extra cherry juice makes it a prettttty pink-y color. 'Twould be fine, as is. :-)

Gentle hugs,

My pooches cringed when they heard about the dog tongue. But then they both agreed they dated a few that would make perfect candidates. Now if you'd said tongue of bitch, they'd be all over you LMAO!

I think I have the very same love/hate relationship with senior tequila. lol Alas, we parted friendships years ago too after one night of a little too much loving him. I swear he tried to kill me for the next few days!

I love that moon. Even more so, I love that cemetery photo in your next post. She is exquisite!! Just gorgeous!

Have a beautiful rest of your weekend. Faith, trust, and faerie dust!!

That beautiful moon drew me here on my broom this early morning. May I say that I am just enchanted by your toad and wouldn't mind bringing him home! Ah the margarita scene...the best party scene on film IMO. Thank you for the memories and for sharing that wicked recipe. I should perhaps skip the tequila as I don't do so well on my broomstick with even a drop of anything alchoholic. Wouldn't want to drop onto some poor unsuspecting souls having a pleasant little bbq! Thank you ever so much for joining our party and for adding to the magic and fun! Have a beautiful and blessed Fall.

And the saying at the end of the movie,
