More Treasure Hunting...

Saturday was a perfect day for yard-sale-ing.  How cool is this little bark Faery (bird) house for $0.25?

A nice, tinkle-y wind chime for $0.50...

 A better view...

I collect sets of vintage reindeer, so I grabbed these up for $1.00.  They are adorable!

A wool, Mexican blanket for $1.00...  in perfect condition.

Four little frogs to hide in my potted plants... (and to keep the real ones company that live there now.)  $1.00 for all...

I'm not sure about this... I try to stick to my rule of not buying anything if I don't LOVE it, and I'm not sure I love this.  But for $1.00 (it was marked $2.00),  I couldn't leave it there.  It might end up in the potting shed...

One embroidered doily and three embroidered table-runners, all for $1.00.  Two are not in great shape, so they will be added to the stack of goodies I am saving to make my next crazy quilt.

I don't understand why people would want to get rid of this stuff, but I guess I'm glad they do!  Such tedious work, and so beautiful...

Two glass bunnies for spring-time...

Now for the Treasure Trash...  One nice old, chippy metal tray that has already found a home above the pantry...

Someone thought this deserved to go to the landfill - in brand new condition!  Now it has a happy home in my craft room...  And it is on wheels!

Someone else obviously didn't know that you can cash in paperback books at the used book store, so that is just what I did... for a credit of $44.00!  There were 24 of them in great condition, but I kept a couple that looked interesting.

MOON SONG #13

You knew it was coming...

Peace, love, and happiness,

You always happen upon such incredible finds. You know that is yet another thing I miss since I moved to the city - yard sales. Perhaps if my wish comes true I will have some great finds in my future!

LOVE the faery house.

I can never find anything that cheap over here! I liked most of it, but the rain deers were a bit to much for my taste :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day now!

Hi Aine! I am having a run of luck lately, but this is a really good time of year for yard-sale-ing. It seems like EVERYONE around here has one every fall.

Hi Christer! Oh come on! You don't like the gaudy red and gold reindeer with the bendable wire antlers??? They are a bit tacky, I admit, but that is part of what makes them great!

Hi Diva! Thanks for stopping by!

Peace,
Chris...............

You did not buy a single thing that I would not have bought. I bring home stuff like that so much that now I'm limiting myself not because of cost but because of space. I especially am drawn to things that children made and brought home then the parents pack it off to the thrift store. I have a number of those moments of creation that tell me stories. Just a crazy old fool.
Any mirror is worth 1.00 but a Sun mirror with a place to set a candle in front of it has magical qualities you just haven't found yet. I would love that but it would have to live in the yard because of the aforementioned problem. I keep hoping to find a mirror I can step through so I consider all mirrors seriously. What if that mirror show things from the past or future but only sometimes like when the moon is full or is in the last few seconds of the last quarter.
You know, I'm sure, that many of us believe that life as we know it on earth was and is made possible by the moon.

Wow! Those are some great finds! I love yard sales, except they don't have many way out in the country around here.
I really love the bark bird house. It is so cute.
Have a great day.

Hi Oldfool! I guess my only hang-up about the mirror is that it looks too new and perfect... I never pass on an old one. You have now inspired me to find a proper place for it!

Hi Farmwoman! Thanks for visiting! I *so* wish I lived 'way out in the country.'

Peace,
Chris............

Man, I need to go garage sales where you live! I LOVE the embroidered doilies. I don't know why anyone would get rid of them either...

Be sure to share pics when you create a quilt with them.

Your photos are beautiful, and you are a master at thrifting, finding even better prices than I do. My local shop has a lot of embroidered doilies and other hand-emb. items but I never thought to use them for a crazy quilt. Is there a way to subscribe to your blog via email, such as through Feed Burner? It is so much easier to follow a great blog when the post updates come right to the inbox.
