I can't thank you enough for posting this.
My Hubby is Cherokee and it infuriated him that a man such as Columbus is celebrated. He says, "Would they have a Hitler Day in Germany?"

It wasn´t a fortunate day for the indigenous people when he stumbled in to the new continent and to be honest he wasn´t even the first european to see the american continent either :-)
